| I was alone, I took a ride, I didn’t know what I would find there Another road where maybe I could see another kind of mind there Ooh, then I suddenly see you, You didn’t run, you didn’t lie Ooh, you were meant to be near me Got to get you into my life What can I do, what can I be, Ooh, then I suddenly see you, Got to get you into my life I was alone, I took a ride, Then suddenly I see you, Under the leadership of Dr. Copeland, chief of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery and co-director of the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center, University Medical Center in 1985 marked the first use in the world of a total artificial heart, the “Phoenix Heart,” as a “bridge to transplant.” this is from the “book of walls” series..scanned from a slide taken at the UA tennis courts where outside of surgery he spent time. he was a very quiet and unassuming man. though he was probably one of the more difficult to work with because he seemed like he’d really rather be either playing tennis or back in the hospital! it took a lot to get him to smile!! this is in june of 1985…he still works today saving countless lives of children and adults. |
